Prefab or Bust
Interesting take on the prefab movement or lack of. The author here talks about the realities of prefab and the fact that a majority of the population doesn't want to simply deal with the hassle of obtaining land and experiencing the rigors that are associated with a complex process. They'd rather just have a house shell to work with and fill it with stuff. Honestly its valid. When my wife and I bought land we explored the prefab route even had someone from Dwell Homes (Empyrean) come out to the site. In the end after exploring a variety of different prefab vendors including Dwell, the cost was essentially the same to do a prefab vs. custom architect designed home.http://creativity-online.com/?action=news:article&newsId=137341§ionId=681

House of the Future
Just got back from Disneyland and wanted to share a few photos from some Disney history. There used to be a House of the Future where the Disney Innovation attraction now sits. Here are some pix of an actual house they constructed on site was (made out of plastic!).
