Just unwrapped the new Final Cut Pro 7 software and Apple has done it again. The previous version came in a box big enough to store a few standard issue bricks and had the heft to back it up. The new versions is beautiful, stunning, simple and small. Good things do come in small packages. A simple sleeve gloriously slides off the the the drawer style box where two internal containers one containing instructions the other software seamlessly reveal themselves. Stunning. Simple. Beautiful! Now I just need to wait the 5 hours to install all the discs.

MS does not equal = Thought Leader

While Microsoft may be a Goliath they didn't get there because they are bleeding edge on all things conceptual and cool. The new retail stores rumored in the media and blog-o-sphere have revealed some initial concepts on their foray into taking down Apple (good luck, this after Microsoft paraded around after Apple lawyers called them to change their laptop hunter ads, Microsoft acted like the class president and said "face" while changing the spot to appease Apple. Face it, Microsoft is really the nerd stuffed into the locker while Steve Jobs laughs in the corner. Bigger isn't necessarily better and in this case Microsoft will most likely fail or provide some generic experience that nobody will ever care about. When was the last time you heard someone say hey, this Microsoft product is something I must absolutely have? Disclaimer: I do think the Microsoft Surface technology is cool but lets not kid ourselves that Apple has already one upped them we just don't know it yet..
